Our Family

Hi, My Name is Melanie Domenech Iam 39 years old and have been been married to Simon for 11 years,We have two boys Jack 12 and Sam 11 we are based in Horbury in West Yorkshire. I have had animals from a early age and with my dads auntie Gladis owning a farm in Emley and my dads mates Arnold/John owning a pet shop in Wakefield there is not an animal i havn't either owned or looked after, the strangest being a snapping turtle. My claim to fame is ive ridden a aligator in America. I now only have dogs and tortoises and to see my clan please click on the relavent pages.

My Cellar/Tortoise Room

My hubby Simon has converted our cellar to hold 4 large and one small tortoise tables with uva/heat bulbs which i have on for 12hrs and then at night i have ceramic heaters on for them so they can get there sleep. In these tables i keep my;Leopards, Reds, Yellow foots and Elongated and Tunisians for the small table they have masses of room and atleast they can't be stolen as to get to our cellar you have to go past all three dogs and i wish anyone luck who wants to try this.

My Garden

My garden is fully enclosed with lawn which is full of weeds so very tortoise friendly! I do however have 5 pens on the garden which i put them in so they are safe from the dogs. I only put tortoises in pens when i'm in the garden but i also have some free roamers too.

My Shed

My shed is to house my Sulcata's once older it is 12ft x 10ft so they should have ample room for the two of them but this wont be for a while yet. My hubby is pleased as he still has to kit this out.

Iam Very Sorry but Tortilicous is now only takin in old spurr thighes or hermans as iam just about to help out a rescue that is closing down and taking on 7 of there elderley and infirm tortoises, i also want to enjoy what i have and dont want it to become a chore, But as i Volunteer for another reptile rescue in my spare time in Morley, Leeds looking after there tortoises. if you do have any breed of tortoise you are looking to rehome please get in touch . I look after all there tortoises at there premises that need rehoming and find them suitable homes. Can i please make it clear that unlike at mine any tortoises that go to the rescue i volunteer for will be found a suitable home none stay permanent at the rescue unless they are used for educational purposes.
